IP Blocking
What is IP blocking and what does it mean for website visitors? When is it useful?
In case you notice a big increase in the traffic to your Internet site and if after you look at the visitor stats it turns out that it comes from areas around the world or from other servers, your site is more than likely being attacked by an automatic bot. These programs go through random sites attempting to log in to their admin area by using a brute-force attack or to leave spam comments under every article where this kind of an option is offered. However, this is something rather frequent lately, but if you know the IP addresses from which the attacks come, you could block them, so the bots shall not be able to access your site in any way. Of course, you are able to block IPs even if you allow only people from particular countries to access your website.

IP Blocking in Web Hosting
If you have a
web hosting account with our company and you would like to block one or a few IP addresses, you can use the IP Blocking tool, that's included in our in-house built Hepsia CP. Through a rather simple interface, you'll be able to stop any IP from accessing your content even if you have not had a web hosting account before. All it requires to perform that is to log inside to your Control Panel, to navigate to the IP Blocking section, to choose a certain domain or subdomain from a drop-down menu and then to input the IP address. You'll not have to do anything challenging if you would like to block an entire network - you will just need to omit the last octet, so entering 1.1.1. with a blank space after the last dot shall block the whole range from 1.1.1.1 to 1.1.1.255. All blocked IPs will be listed inside the very same section, so you shall be able to remove any of them from the blacklist with just a mouse click.

IP Blocking in Semi-dedicated Servers
The Hepsia hosting Control Panel, included with our
semi-dedicated hosting plans, will enable you to solve the challenge with unwanted traffic very easily. It features an IP blocking tool where you may add IP addresses with several mouse clicks. All domains and subdomains you have in the account will be listed in a drop-down menu, so you only need to pick the one you need and then type in the IP address which needs to be blocked. If you wish to block an entire range, a C-class network for instance, you just have to type in the first three octets of the IP and leave the last one blank. That shall block all 254 addresses, so you will not have to type them by hand. As all the IPs which you add in this section shall be listed, you could quickly unblock any one of them by clicking the Delete button related to the particular IP.
